The National Cancer Institute's Cancer Information Service is available to both the health practitioner and the general public. The program lists information on more than 100 different types of cancer, including breast cancer. Information is also available from the NCI's cancer database called the Physician Data Query.
The database contains information on how various kinds of cancer are staged and treatment options for each stage, complete with research citations. Callers can ask for a list of clinical trials, research protocols, and free publications. Internet access is called CancerNet.

This is a networking agent for other breast cancer organizations, which provides assistance, information, and referrals to anyone with questions about breast cancer. 300 organizations are members, which is composed mainly of health care providers, major cancer centers and major cancer organizations. Health care providers can seek data on breast cancer via their published national resource list with a special section on resources not available to the general public. Cost is $3.00.

The ACS deals with the entire spectrum of cancers. They can provide many services to practitioners including a data bank of mammography screening centers accredited by the American College of Radiology. Data bank 800-ACS-2345. The ACS also is the home of Reach to Recovery. This is a program designed as a patient-to-patient visitation model where breast cancer survivor volunteers can visit breast cancer survivors at home or in the hospital.

Non-profit organization that provides information, support, and referral services to women (and men) with breast cancer. Services include a national hotline, which is operated by breast cancer survivors who provide information in lay terms. Y-ME also has a database of all accredited mammography centers and lists of comprehensive breast centers, support groups, and any other resources that might be of value to them. Other services include public education seminars, teen program for breast health awareness, resource library, newsletter, training for providers on increasing their awareness to the emotional needs of breast cancer patients, and a wig and prosthesis bank for women who are unable to afford them.

A national non-profit organization with chapters around the country. Their central mission is to eradicate breast cancer as a life-threatening disease by advancing research, education, screening, and treatment.
Information and resources about breast health and breast cancer issues are available on the hotline. Other services include a list of accredited mammography centers and comprehensive breast cancer centers, local community resources and support groups, and guidance on important questions for patients to ask their physicians. The foundation fund grants, sponsors annual runs/walks and has a powerful lobbying force.

The primary mission of the Breast Cancer Coalition is advocacy and lobbying.
